Here's an article on Sam Roberts' ghost sign activities. It's on the blog of a sign specialist from Inverell in northern NSW:

In February 2012 I stumbled upon a trove of company documents from the 1940s and 1950s at a demolition site in Footscray, Melbourne. Here I tell the stories associated with those documents: the records of signwriting company Lewis & Skinner, and the tattered books of correspondence connected with writer Morris West and the radio serial company he started and ran, Australasian Radio Productions. Plus the more general exploration of 'ghost signs' that my discovery has sparked.
Hey Stephan, Thanks for posting this. Maybe you'd be up for a feature on the blog some time? Let me know what you think. Don McKernan
ReplyDeleteNo worries Don - anytime. Is the sign painter film playing up your way at all? Apparently it's playing in Melbourne in November: http://signpaintermovie.blogspot.com.au/
DeleteIt'll be showing in Sydney, but that's too far south for me. Email me at signs@danthonia.com & we'll get that blog post started.
DeleteThanks for plugging this, seem to be getting a bit of interest from Australian signwriters as a result, all good news for the development of Better Letters.
