A sly schnapps on the side

Yesterday when cycling through Flemington I stumbled on a brilliant little uncovering of a deco-era Schnapps sign. I came back after the workmen had left and, as is my wont, went in the back to take a few 'schnapps snaps'  :)

Funnily enough, a couple of days after David sent these pics, I took my kids to a pizza making birthday party in what turned out to be the same set of shops next to the Caulfield railway station. So while the kids were busy making their cheesy creations, I took a few more pics of this sign - and some others in the vicinity, including a brilliant motor garage uncovering with a painted pastoral scene:

Fabulous ghost sign projection at Gertrude Street projection festival

Gertrude Street in Fitzroy is home to a ghost sign I've snapped a number of times. Now it's been given a new lease of life during this week's Gertrude Street projection festival. The phone pics below don't do justice to the brilliant animated projection by FloodSlicer (http://gspf.com.au/program/artists/floodslicer/), an architectural visualisation studio whose projection is about "extending the theme of illumination both literally and figuratively...‘dissolving’ the bricks away in places to reveal a space/place beyond."
